ABOUT US
HyHAUL is an ambitious initiative to establish the UK’s first dedicated hydrogen mobility corridor, setting a new benchmark in sustainable transport by proving the feasibility and scalability of hydrogen in heavy-duty freight operations.
By leveraging hydrogen’s potential to power zero-emission vehicles, HyHAUL directly addresses the decarbonisation of the most challenging and emission-intensive duty cycles in road transport. This pioneering effort supports the UK’s broader commitment to achieving net-zero emissions.
The project builds on the foundational work from the Zero Emissions HGV Infrastructure Demonstration (ZEHID, formerly ZERFD) project. By focusing on the M4 corridor as an initial testbed, HyHAUL aims to refine the business case for zero-emission heavy-duty transport, paving the way for a nationwide roll-out of hydrogen-powered logistics solutions.
The insights gained from HyHAUL are anticipated to play a critical role in unlocking sustainable solutions for the most hard-to-abate transport cycles. By bridging the gap between hydrogen supply and demand, HyHAUL will not only prove the technical and economic viability of hydrogen in freight transport but also serve as a catalyst for broader adoption, supporting the UK’s journey toward a cleaner, greener future.
